The Risk & Insurance Education Alliance Launches CISR Cross-Credit Program to Accelerate Completion of the CIC Designation

Austin, TX., September 25, 2025 — The Risk & Insurance Education Alliance (the Alliance) has the launched a groundbreaking cross-credit program designed to create a more streamlined educational path for risk and insurance professionals. This new initiative provides participants who pass the exams for both the CISR Commercial Casualty I and CISR Commercial Casualty II courses with full credit for the CIC Commercial Casualty course.

The program was inspired by a commitment to honor the real-world value of the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation and to accelerate the journey for professionals advancing to the prestigious Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. “The inspiration really came from our commitment to recognizing the real-world value of the CISR designation and coursework,” said Danielle Janecka, Chief Experience Officer at the Alliance. “This initiative also reflects our broader mission, which is to make professional education more accessible, more efficient and impactful to those that are dedicated to excellence in the risk and insurance industry.”

How the Program Works

The process is designed to be seamless. Upon successfully passing the exams for CISR Commercial Casualty I and CISR Commercial Casualty II, a participant becomes eligible. They can then opt into the program to have the credit for the CIC Commercial Casualty course automatically applied to their educational record. This allows them to focus on the remaining courses required to earn the CIC designation.

Key Benefits for Insurance Professionals

The program offers several tangible benefits designed to support career growth and recognize prior learning:

  • Accelerated Progress: Participants can skip the CIC Commercial Casualty course entirely, saving significant time and effort on their path to earning the designation.
  • Career Advancement: The program fast-tracks the path to earning the CIC designation, a credential that many agencies require for promotion to senior roles and for advanced compensation.
  • Financial Savings: The cross-credit program is completely free to opt into. Participants can achieve even greater savings of up to 51% on course fees by utilizing the Alliance’s advanced subscription membership, which also includes unlimited webinar and self-paced course access and exam attempts.
  • A Confidence Boost: The program validates the rigorous coursework already completed for the CISR designation, motivating professionals to continue their educational journey.

Program Rollout and Deadlines

The Alliance will begin the rollout by contacting an initial group of approximately 3,200 individuals who have already met the CISR course requirements. This group will have until December 31, 2026, to opt-in and take advantage of the credit. The opt-in process will be managed through a simple, one-click button in a targeted email.
