The 35th National Conference of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASGCON 2025) opened in Chennai on Friday. It brought together over 1,250 delegates and 40 international faculty from across the globe. The three-day meet, themed “GI Oncology Innovations, AI & Beyond”, will feature lectures, panel discussions, live demonstrations, and advanced skill labs covering pancreatic and esophageal cancers, colorectal surgery, and minimally invasive techniques.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by P. Senthil Kumar, I.A.S., principal secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu, along with senior medical education leaders. The conference also marked the launch of the VIO® seal generator by C. Palanivelu, chairman of GEM Hospital, Coimbatore introducing advanced bipolar technology for vessel sealing and dissection. Pre-conference workshops were held at leading Chennai hospitals, offering hands-on training.
