Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday (January 29, 2026) tabled the Economic Survey 2025-26 first in the Lok Sabha, an annual report card of the country’s economic performance in the financial year.

After tabling of the Survey in the Lok Sabha, Ms. Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2025-26 in the Rajya Sabha also.

Ms. Sitharaman will be presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1, 2026 (Sunday).

The Survey projected the GDP growth in the range of 6.8 to 7.2% in 2026-27, a tad lower than 7.4% estimated in the current fiscal.

The survey is tabled ahead of the Union Budget and presents a backdrop for the policy actions to be taken in the next financial year.

It will set the broad macroeconomic and policy priorities for the government at a time when the global economy is facing heightened geopolitical uncertainty and fragmentation.

The Economic Survey is an annual document presented by the government ahead of the Union Budget to review the state of the country’s economy. It also provides an overview of the economy’s short-to-medium-term prospects.
