30 units start production under the PLI Scheme for textiles

As many as 30 textile and apparel units set up under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme have commenced production.

According the Union Ministry of Textiles, of the 74 applications selected for the scheme that was notified on September 24, 2021, 40 have started investing, 22 have achieved the prescribed threshold level and 30 units have started production.

The scheme, which has an outlay of ₹10,683 crore, aims to promote production of MMF apparel and fabrics and technical textile products. The total proposed investment by the 74 units is ₹ 28,711 crore and the projected turnover is ₹ 2,16,760 crore, generating jobs for 2.59 lakh people. The Ministry has disbursed provisional incentive of ₹54 crore to two applicants who have achieved the threshold investment and revenue in 2024-2025. Of the total selected applications, more than 50 % are in the technical textile sector, the Ministry said.

The Ministry said in a press release that under the PM MITRA park scheme, detailed project reports worth ₹7,024 crore has been approved for parks in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana and the land allotment policy for the parks in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu has been approved. The Ministry has allocated ₹160 crore for the parks to come up in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Telangana.
