Anthropic raised $65 billion in a Series H round announced Thursday, pushing its post-money valuation to $965 billion and, for the first time, surpassing rival OpenAI in the race to dominate AI infrastructure. The round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. Strategic chip partners Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron (NASDAQ:MU) also joined.

The headline figure nearly triples Anthropic’s $380 billion Series G valuation from February. Embedded in the round is $15 billion of previously committed hyperscaler investment, including $5 billion from Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), with AWS remaining the company’s primary cloud and training partner. Run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion earlier in May.

Anthropic said proceeds are earmarked for safety and interpretability research, compute expansion, and scaling enterprise partnerships. The company has already signed capacity agreements with Amazon for up to five gigawatts, with Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) for a further five gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity, and with SpaceX for access to GPU capacity in Colossus 1 and Colossus 2.
