What investors can expect from Apple’s WWDC

The big thing uh with Siri is that it just hasn’t worked well for years. It’s kind of languished since uh it originally launched. Um, you know, we use it to set alarms and maybe say, you know, what’s playing, but that that’s about it.

Um, you know, Apple may say something different, but that’s just anecdotally what I see people around me doing. Um, the idea here is that uh it’ll get uh enhanced AI through Google’s Gemini. Now, they announced that tie up uh earlier this year in January, saying that, you know, Apple signed a deal, they’re going to be getting Gemini uh models, it’ll be part of uh Siri.

What uh Mark Gurman over at Bloomberg reported uh though is that it’ll turn into kind of a a chatbot almost with uh a separate Siri app. Now, you’d still be able to access it as you normally would, you know, either through invoking the voice, uh its name through voice. You would be able to swipe down from the center of your screen uh to get a text box and be able to type to it if you don’t feel like asking uh out loud.

Uh and you’ll be able to get more capabilities. So you’ll be able to tell it to do multi-step things, like make an appointment, uh what’s the weather like, things along those lines. Uh you know, more enhanced than than that though. So it’ll it’ll actually go and do that on its own. So the the capabilities seemingly will be there if if they actually do launch all of this.

For Apple, Dan, we should mention you’ll be there, of course. What would be a winning WWDC? Like, what do you think they would consider a success this year?

01:17 Speaker A

I I think any positive press out of the Siri launch, if, you know, that’s widely reported to happen. Uh, if that happens and it knocks people’s socks off and it can do what it originally was supposed to do, I think that that would be a success. Now, the thing about Apple is it’s always sell the news, right? There’s there’s an event that happens, stock falls a few uh percentage points.

01:39 Speaker A

That’s just par for the course when it comes to Apple. It happens with iPhone launches, WWDC, uh I uh pad launches, whatever. Uh over time though, after that, you start to see the stock come up if it was a good launch. So you saw something like the iPhone 17,

stock sold off a little bit as normal, and then the stock started to climb because of the positive sales that we saw from the iPhone 17. Now, when it comes to this, it’ll tie into the iPhone 17, obviously, when this next iOS 27 comes out, which would be in the fall, but then it would also tie into the future iPhones. And that’s going to be the bigger thing. What what what does this do to augment those next coming iPhones, which is rumored to be that foldable phone.
