Amal Clooney gave the little black dress a sheer update for a Broadway date night on Thursday. While stepping out to support husband George Clooney’s theater turn in Good Night, and Good Luck at New York City’s Winter Garden Theatre, the international lawyer turned heads in a see-through black lace midi dress.
Showing off her bare shoulders and collarbones, Amal’s off-the-shoulder black dress featured an asymmetrical layer of winter-coded nubby-textured black fabric that covered her chest. In contrast to the cozy material, a layer of delicate sheer black lace hugged Amal’s stomach and legs with a midi-length design. Playing into the peek-a-boo details of the semi-sheer dress, the humanitarian accessorized the look with metallic rose gold pointy-toed heels trimmed with clear PVC material. A pair of dangly gold chain earrings nearly grazed her shoulders.

Posing alongside George as well as fellow Broadway show attendees Nancy Pelosi, Tanya Taylor, Hillary Clinton, Dr. Chelsea Clinton, and Huma Abedin, Amal leaned into her signature beauty and glam for her evening out. The star styled her caramel-highlighted brown hair in an effortless, side-parted blowout and accentuated her features with smudged eyeshadow, glowing skin, and a mauve lipstick.

Despite showing her support for her husband’s Broadway debut, which has him playing CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow, Amal is reportedly less supportive of the dyed hair that George has had to sport for the role. In contrast to his signature salt and pepper look, the Ocean’s 11 actor shocked fans when he debuted a dark brunette dye job with matching eyebrows and a clean-shaven face.

While making an appearance on CNN in April, he admitted Amal isn’t the biggest fan of the hair transformation—and isn’t afraid to give him some tough love. “My wife hates it. She says, ‘It’s not a good look on you,” he said at the time.
