Instaleap partners with Spar Slovenia for e-commerce fulfilment

Instacart-owned e-commerce fulfilment provider Instaleap has agreed a partnership with Spar Slovenia to run the supermarket chain’s e-commerce fulfilment platform.

The collaboration will support Spar Slovenia’s digital and omnichannel plans in the Slovenian market.

The supermarket will bring Instaleap’s platform into its existing online grocery operations, using tools meant to “standardise workflows, improve visibility into storeโ€‘level operations, and coordinate delivery resources more efficiently across its network”.

Instaleap EMEA sales vice-president Bas Groot said: “By partnering with Spar Slovenia, Instaleap seeks to contribute technology that can help strengthen the foundations of its online grocery operations in the Slovenian market, where customer expectations for convenience and reliability continue to evolve.”

According to the press statement, the agreement aim is to tackle the “operational complexity” of serving both in-store and online customers, building on Spar Slovenia’s recent spending on upgrading its stores and logistics infrastructure.

Instaleap’s tools will be rolled out in stages, in line with Spar Slovenia’s approach to the market, its infrastructure, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Domestic shoppers will keep using Spar Slovenia’s online grocery services via its current digital channels, with any changes to geographic reach, delivery choices, or service features to be decided and announced by Spar Slovenia depending on local demand and operational readiness.

Spar online sales head Miha Deu said: “Instaleap will work closely with Spar Slovenia to monitor results and adjust the use of the platform as required, with the goal of supporting consistent service levels for shoppers in Slovenia across participating channels.”

The agreement follows Instacart’s acquisition of Instaleap in April, aimed at extending the company’s enterprise retail technology offering across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, and bolstering its operations beyond North America.

Instaleap supplies fulfilment and enablement tools designed to help retailers run and expand online grocery services, including marketplace integrations and fulfilment capabilities.

The company operates in almost 30 countries across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, with links to close to 100 grocery retailers and marketplaces.
