I made a dead box so my family wouldn’t be left guessing – Personal Finance Club

I created my own dead box back in 2018 when I realized I had a pretty significant amount of money, and if I were to unexpectedly die, no one but me really knows where it all is. I’ve got a 401k, IRA, real estate, businesses, vehicles, crypto, etc, etc. The thought of my family trying to unravel all that without me being able to help made me cringe. How the heck would they access all of it? At a minimum it would be a TON of hassle and expense, and at worst they’d LOSE accounts they didn’t know about!

So I created my dead box. It has a letter to my family with instructions, a spreadsheet of all my accounts, passwords, backup codes, my will, my trust, insurance information and a ton more. I update it every January and send it to the executor of my will. That was my brother and now it’s my wife.

As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often.
