New York City’s Port Authority Bus Terminal, a critical transport hub for Manhattan, is closed due to a multi-bus accident, according to transit authorities.
New Jersey Transit bus services traveling to and from the terminal are being diverted to Secaucus Junction, Newark Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal, NJ Transit said in a post on X. Bus tickets and passes are being cross-honored by the system’s commuter rail lines, New York Waterway’s ferries and by PATH trains at Hoboken, Newark Penn Station and 33rd Street New York.

New York’s Fire Department said it received a call around 6:05 a.m. reporting two coach buses had collided near West 41st Street inside the terminal at 625 Eighth Ave. Emergency crews arrived to find a total of three buses involved, and patients were being evaluated at the scene.
Twelve people sustained minor injuries, and one individual was transported to the hospital for further evaluation, according to a spokesperson from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the bi-state agency that operates transit hubs in the New York area.
The express bus lane ramp is currently closed, and traffic has been rerouted to the upper level of the terminal, the agency said. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
Representatives for New Jersey Transit couldn’t be reached for immediate further comment.
