“A Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader in Coochbehar district of West Bengal was injured after unidentified assailants shot at him,” police said on Friday (July 4, 2025.)

“The bullet struck his right shoulder. He was taken to a nearby hospital by party workers and his condition is stated to be stable,” a police officer said. Investigation is under way.

“The miscreants, who came in a car, fled, leaving behind the vehicle, which has been impounded,” he said. The ruling TMC alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was behind the attack on Dey. The safron party has rubbished the charge, terming the attack a result of TMC’s infighting.
