Centre okays additional instalment of Rs 81,735 crore as tax devolution to the state govts

The Centre on Friday said that it has approved an additional instalment of Rs 81,735 crore as tax devolution to the state governments, which will be released on June 2, 2025.

The Finance Ministry in its statement added that the amount received to states as tax devolution is Rs 11,860 crore higher than the previous year.

“The additional instalment of devolution to States is in line with the principle of co-operative federalism and the aim of becoming ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, which can be realized through ‘Viksit States’ as envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi,” said the Finance Minister in its statement.
The Finance Ministry added that the additional instalment of devolution will enable the States to speed up their capital spending, finance their development and welfare-related expenditure and also make available resources for priority projects/schemes of the States.

In the monthly account of the government of India for the month of April 2025, released by the Finance Ministry, the Centre received Rs 2,79,288 crore (8.0% of corresponding BE 2025-26 of Total Receipts) for the month.


Additionally for the month of April 2025, the Centre received Rs 1,89,669 crore Tax Revenue (Net to Centre), Rs 67,160 crore of Non-Tax Revenue and Rs 22,459 crore of Non-Debt Capital Receipts, on account of recovery of loans. Total expenditure incurred by Centre is Rs 46,55,517 crore (98.7% of corresponding RE 2024-25), out of which Rs 36,03,510 crore is on Revenue Account and Rs 10,52,007 crore is on Capital Account. Out of the Total Revenue Expenditure, Rs 11,16,343 crore is on account of Interest Payments and Rs 3,88,036 crore is on account of Major Subsidies.
