Three-year-old airline Akasa will come out with an IPO in two to five years, CEO Vinay Dube at Aviation India Summit on Wednesday (October 29, 2025).

He was responding to a question on whether there would be any further capital raise after an investment of $125 million from Premji Invest, which is associated with Azim Premji Foundation, Claypond Capital, and 360 ONE Asset of Manipal Group’s Ranjan Pai.

With 30 aircraft in its fleet, the airline that has grappled with delayed deliveries of Boeing 737 MAX over the past two years, struck a more optimistic note.

“With Boeing increasing its production rate, there is more confidence in our expansion,” the CEO said.

Declining to provide specific numbers on the rate of induction, Mr. Dube said that the airline will add 196 aircraft until December 2032 in a non-linear trajectory, with the number of new planes increasing progressively each year.

The airline was also faced with almost 400 pilots grounded until early this year due to delayed deliveries, but the CEO said 85% of them were now actively flying and by the end of the next 30 to 60 days, all of them will accrue flying hours. The airline will also restart hiring pilots after a hiatus of three years, first officers specifically, who will begin to join the airline from the second half of 2026.
