Athens Restaurant Roundup: National Margarita Day, spring menus and more | Eat & Drink

As February winds down and spring inches closer, Athens restaurants are rolling out fresh flavors, festive cocktails and the perfect excuse to grab a table with friends. The Red & Black has gathered something for every craving this week, so if you’re in the mood for bold, new bites or a classic margarita, here’s where to eat and sip around town. 

Newk’s Eatery

What: Newk’s is ringing in spring with a refreshed mix of flavors available through May 13. This new lineup highlights bold flavors and returning guest-favorite recipes featuring a new sandwich, salad, soup, wrap and plate, for a limited time. 

• Asian Chicken Salad: Chicken, mixed greens, edamame, carrots, green onions, mandarin oranges, red bell peppers and wonton strips tossed with Newk’s ginger wasabi dressing. 

• Tuna Salad Sandwich: Homemade tuna salad made with Newk’s bread-and-butter pickles, red onion and celery, topped with melted provolone, lettuce, tomato and mayo on wheat berry bread. 

• Chipotle Shrimp Caesar Wrap: Seasoned shrimp with romaine, parmesan and tossed in spicy chipotle Caesar dressing and wrapped in a spinach tortilla.

• The Trio: A customizable combination allowing guests to choose three items from Newk’s chicken salad, pimiento cheese, tuna salad, fruit, pasta salad or potato salad, served with crackers.

Paloma Park

235 W. Washington St. 

What: Celebrate National Margarita Day at Paloma Park. Beginning at noon, get margarita on draft towers all day for $30, Espolòn house margaritas for $5, and happy hour pitchers for $8 from 3 to 6 p.m. 

When: Sunday, Feb. 22 starting at noon.  

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant

196 Alps Road 

What: La Parrilla is preparing for National Margarita Day just as everyone else, but with a special deal to celebrate with. For $9.25, get the beverage you deserve, your favorite table will be waiting for you.

The Pine Bar

1235 S. Milledge Ave. 

What: Brunch is back at The Pine Bar after a three month hiatus and is packed with bowls, beignets and bubbles. 

When: Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Bruxie

311 E. Broad St. 

What: Love is still in the air at Bruxie, featuring their February favorites until the end of the month. Enjoy a Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Shake, a LOVE Bruxie Waffle Sandwich or both for a pick-me-up this week.
