Budget airline Transavia cancels all Dubai flights until at least March 20

This story was last updated at 8.45am on Friday February 20.

One of Europe’s most popular low-cost airlines has suspended further flights to and from Dubai.

Transavia has confirmed it has cancelled all flights heading to and from Dubai International Airport until Sunday March 15.

The Dutch budget airline operates as a subsidiary of major international airline KLM and is part of the Air France-KLM Group.

In a statement, the low-cost airline said that the airspace on the route to and from Dubai is the main issue, in addition to a lack of slots at Dubai International Airport.

Announcing the cancellations due to precautions with flying over certain areas of the region, the airline stated that it continues to monitor the situation.

If safety advice for flying over the region remains the same for Transavia then there will be even more flight cancellations after Sunday March 15, the airline warned.

Transavia currently has its main hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and operates other hubs in other Dutch cities alongside three bases in France.

Passengers with flights booked to Dubai have been advised that they will be contacted by SMS and email if their service has been cancelled.

DXB flight cancellations in 2026

The Transavia announcement follows several precautionary flight cancellations to the region by major European airlines.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, based out of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, cancelled multiple flights to Dubai International Airport at the end of January but has since resumed daylight flights.

Air France had briefly suspended its service to DXB but resumed operations on Saturday January 24.

And Emirates had also recently cancelled flights to several US destinations as Storm Fern affected travel to New York, Washington DC, Boston, Dallas and Newark.

Those affected by Transavia’s ongoing cancellations are able to choose to get a refund on their ticket or rebook the flight for another date in the future.

Passengers can also switch their flight to another destination for free, as long as the flight is within 14 days of their original flight date.
