Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (January 29, 2026) called on Indian manufacturers to capitalise on new market opportunities following the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union, describing it as a milestone for an “ambitious India”.

Speaking ahead of the Budget session, Mr. Modi characterised the President’s address to a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament as an expression of confidence from 140 crore citizens that outlined the aspirations of India’s youth. He emphasised that the nation is moving away from long-pending problems toward implementing long-term solutions.

The Prime Minister urged manufacturers to offer quality products to all 27 EU member nations, stating that a significant new market has now opened up for Indian industry.

“A new market has opened up, offer quality products to 27 EU member nations,” he told manufacturers regarding the FTA.

PM Modi also struck an optimistic tone about India’s global standing, asserting that “an India full of confidence has emerged as a ray of hope for the world”.

He called on stakeholders to focus on finding solutions rather than creating hurdles as the Budget session commences.
