Marqeta, a card issuing platform, appointed Patti Kangwankij as finance chief, effective Feb. 9. Kangwankij joins Marqeta from real estate technology firm Roofstock, where she has been CFO since January 2025. Before that, she worked at payment processing platform Stripe for over four years, including as head of payments finance and strategy. She earlier spent 14 years at JPMorgan Chase, where she started in the investment bank, before becoming managing director and CFO for its co-branded credit card and merchant services businesses. Kangwankij succeeds Mike Milotich, who was appointed Marqeta’s chief executive officer in September 2025.
Josh Borfitz was promoted to senior associate athletic director and chief financial officer of the University of North Carolina Athletics. Borfitz has been a part of the Carolina Athletics’ financial leadership team for the past eight years, most recently as associate athletic director and controller. He earlier worked as a CPA with PwC. Borfitz succeeds Martina Ballen, who is retiring at the end of the month. Ballen has worked in the UNC Athletics Business Office for the last 38 years.
Spencer Hart was named chief financial officer of Loop Industries, a Canada-based clean technology company that turns plastic waste into sustainable PET and polyester fiber. Hart, whose appointment is effective Jan. 15, has been a member of Loop’s board of directors since February 2025. He has most recently worked as a senior managing director and senior adviser at Guggenheim Securities. Interim CFO Mike De Notaris will continue with Loop in his role as vice president of corporate development.
Green Plains named Ann Reis as chief financial officer. Reis joins the biorefining company from Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, where she was CFO, chief accounting officer and assistant secretary of the board of directors. She has over 20 years of experience across agribusiness, energy and financial services, including leadership roles as AVP of corporate accounting, finance controls and governance at Lincoln Financial Group and director of finance and internal audit at ConAgra Foods. Reis replaces Phil Boggs, who is leaving the company. Boggs has held multiple finance leadership roles over the past 16 years and has been CFO since November 2024.
