The Chargers could hire former Jets and Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Gase has emerged as a potential candidate to be hired by the Chargers as the team’s passing game coordinator, previously held by Marcus Brady, who left to join Jesse Minter’s Ravens in the same role.
When Did Adam Gase Last Coach in the NFL?
Gase last coached in 2020 with the Jets. As an NFL head coach, Gase has a 32-48 record in the regular season. He is 0-1 in the postseason.
He came to prominence in the NFL as an offensive coordinator for the Broncos in 2013. Gase’s offense set the NFL record for points scored that season and helped Denver reach Super Bowl XLVIII.
The 47-year-old’s coaching career started at Michigan State, where he attended college and served as a student assistant under the coaching staff. Gase then followed Nick Saban to LSU for the 2000 season.
At LSU, Gase worked as a defensive graduate assistant and worked in the recruiting department. This propelled him to the NFL as a scouting assistant for the Detroit Lions in 2003. Five years later, Gase joined the 49ers as an offensive assistant coach under Mike Martz.
