- Costco has added a Double Chocolate Mint Sundae to its food court lineup, made with mint soft serve, chocolate sauce, and cookie crumbles.
- The dessert is a temporary swap, with mint soft serve replacing chocolate on the menu.
- Since its February launch, the sundae has quickly gone viral among shoppers for its striking look and nostalgic flavor combination.
It’s easy to plan a three-course meal for yourself for under $10 total at the Costco food court. Start with the chicken bake — make sure to split it with someone else or save the rest for later; it’s enough to fill you up on its own — for $4, then order the famous $1.50 hot dog for an entrée. (We can confirm that Costco’s iconic hot dog is actually delicious, delivering surprisingly great flavor and a satisfying snap at a very low price.)
But the star of your meal at the bulk retailer might actually be dessert. Costco has introduced a new sweet treat to food court menus that’s already making waves online, and you can try it for just $3.
It’s time to meet the superstore’s Double Chocolate Mint Sundae.
The combination of mint and chocolate can be controversial, but this soft-serve dessert might convert anyone who thinks they aren’t a fan of the two flavors together. And at $3 for the towering treat, it costs less than a latte to give it a try.
The Double Chocolate Mint Sundae began appearing in Costco food courts around February 16, and shoppers quickly took to social media to share the good news. This dessert features mint soft-serve ice cream, chocolate cookie crumbles, and chocolate sauce.
These contrasting creamy, crunchy, and gooey textures have quickly won over Costco members. One content creator notes that “The mint and chocolate combo is tasty, refreshing, and extra chocolatey in the best way.”
Another creator, @snackolator, observes that “This has got a lot going on for just $2.99. That mint ice cream right there is delicious. It’s not overpowering like some cheap mint ice creams.”
The light green ice cream is the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and might even rival McDonald’s famous Shamrock Shake, which returned to menus this week.
If chocolate isn’t your thing, you can order a cup of the mint-flavored soft serve on its own or choose a mint-and-vanilla swirl. A cup of plain soft serve costs $2 at Costco, and the food court menu also features a perennial sundae offering of vanilla soft serve layered with strawberry or chocolate syrup for $2.50.
Unfortunately for fans of Costco’s chocolate soft serve, mint ice cream has replaced chocolate on the menu for now. The retailer has previously rotated soft-serve flavors on its food court menus — replacing strawberry soft serve with chocolate in 2024 — so it’s likely the mint offering won’t be around forever either. So make sure you run to Costco as soon as possible to snag the Double Chocolate Mint Sundae while it’s still on the menu.
