DoorDash (NASDAQ:DASH) and Wing, a drone delivery unit of Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG), announced an expansion of their partnership to metro Atlanta, giving eligible consumers near Tanger Outlets Locust Grove access to drone delivery from local and national restaurants in as little as 20 minutes. The launch adds Atlanta to a network that already includes Southwest Virginia, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and the Charlotte region, with the companies having completed tens of thousands of deliveries since first partnering in 2022.
“Autonomous delivery is an important part of how we’re making local commerce faster, more delightful, and more sustainable,” said Harrison Shih, Head of the DoorDash Drone Program. Wing completes thousands of drone deliveries daily across major U.S. metros, according to Chief Business Officer Heather Rivera.
The expansion reflects DoorDash’s broader push to build a multi-modal delivery network combining human couriers, drones, and other autonomous solutions through its Autonomous Delivery Platform. DoorDash shares rose 4.46% intraday.
