Europe’s Space Agency Says Cyber Incident May Have Hit Servers

The European Space Agency said a cybersecurity issue may have impacted a “very small number” of external servers.

In a post on the social media platform X on Tuesday, ESA said it was conducting a forensic analysis and had implemented measures to secure potentially impacted devices.

Servers that may have been affected by the issue are located outside of the agency’s corporate network and support “unclassified collaborative engineering activities within the scientific community,” ESA said.

“All relevant stakeholders have been informed,” according to the agency.

An ESA spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The agency in November collected a record €22.1 billion ($25.9 billion) from its member states to fund its space programs over the next three years.
