I have bought CDSL September futures for ₹1,587. Should I exit or hold the trade? – Palani Shanmugam
CDSL (₹1,492.10): The stock fell off a resistance at ₹1,600 recently and has lost over 5 per cent so far this week. It has already made a lower low in early August and with the latest decline, the scrip has also formed a lower high.
Given the current price action, the bears appear to have gained considerable strength. Although ₹1,440 is a potential support, there is a good chance for this to be invalidated. In such a case, the stock price of CDSL can slip towards the support band of ₹1,350-1,380.
Even if there is a recovery from the current level, it will most likely be short-lived and can be capped between ₹1,530 and ₹1,550.
Considering the above factors, it is advisable to exit the long position on CDSL September futures, which is currently at ₹1,486.60.
In case you can take a little more risk, you can hold the position with a stop-loss at ₹1,470 and then exit once the price sees an uptick to ₹1,540. This way you can reduce the loss.
