Josh Clark, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s vice president of quality and safety operating systems, oversees design and implementation of the IHI Care Operating System, a system of technology-enabled workflows that connects clinical care, operations, informatics and analytics in a holistic environment that is designed to prioritize and accelerate learning and improvement.
The IHI is a non-profit healthcare organization. IHI CareOS is a consulting service offered to hospitals and health systems that is designed to help them execute and sustain large-scale system improvement.
In this week’s HIMSSCast, Clark discusses how care operating systems can help hospitals and health systems achieve operational efficiency and improve care delivery, and the problems the care operating system approach aims to solve.
Clark also digs into how a care operating system works, how a hospital or health system can implement a care operating system, how it can help improve workforce engagement and satisfaction, and the work the Institute for Healthcare Improvement does in care operating systems.
