Kansas-based JRI Hospitality has acquired the restaurant operations of HCI Hospitality, strengthening its position as a major franchisee of the Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers brand.

The transaction includes 43 Freddy’s locations operated by HCI, which runs several restaurant concepts across the Midwest.

Following the deal, JRI’s Freddy’s portfolio will increase from more than 88 outlets in 15 states to over 130 across 18 states.

JRI founder and CEO Jason Ingermanson said: “The acquisition of HCI is a unique opportunity to bring two great teams together.

“Their reputation, consistent performance, and commitment to integrity and quality align closely with our own values, and we look forward to continuing to bring unique, memorable experiences for our guests across all operations nationwide.”

The acquisition also covers HCI’s JC’s BBQ and Grill in Junction City, Kansas, and Powercat Sports Grill in Manhattan, Kansas.

Creek Wagyu, another concept developed under HCI, is excluded from the deal and will remain under the ownership and management of HCI founder Dave Dreiling.

Dreiling said: “I am thrilled to have HCI’s restaurant operations become part of JRI Hospitality under Jason’s strong leadership.”

To support the integration, HCI chief executive Cam Blakely will join JRI as JRI Freddy’s operations president.

JRI Hospitality now operates more than 145 restaurants nationwide.

The group will remain focused on expansion with Freddy’s and other concepts under its portfolio, including Mokas Coffee & Eatery. JRI also operates Chompie’s Restaurants & Deli and the Salina Country Club.

“JRI Hospitality expands Freddy’s footprint with HCI acquisition” was originally created and published by Verdict Food Service, a GlobalData owned brand.
