Love on the slide: Olympic bobsledder Kaysha Love loves Utah

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — On Valentine’s Day, love was in the driver’s seat.
Kaysha Love, a local out of Herriman, is a bobsled pilot.
“I’m really grateful to be representing USA going into these Games,” she said.
While many Olympic athletes were spending Valentine’s Day on the other side of the planet from their significant others, that’s not the case for Love.
You see, Love is in love — with Olympic bobsledder Hunter Powell.
Asked about the role his fiancée played in recruiting him to the sport, Powell joked she wasn’t involved at all — before laughing and admitting Love brought him into bobsled.
“It’s the coolest thing in the world,” Powell said. “I’m traveling the world for the first time in my life, chasing the dream with the woman I love and my best friend. It doesn’t get better than that.”
Love is an ambassador for bobsled — and she’s an ambassador for Utah.
“Being a part of the 2034 Salt Lake delegation and making sure that the Games were able to come back to Salt Lake has been such a blessing over the past two years, watching my community and our city come together,” Love said.
In turn, she says Utah has been an ambassador for her.
“Maybe I’m biased because I come from Utah, but I love the way our community has come together, and the love and support I’ve felt has been amazing,” Love said.
Love is having a great season, and many expect her to have a good showing here when bobsled kicks off next week.
