Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is encouraging fans to get cervical cancer screenings and take their health seriously after her own diagnosis.
WASHINGTON — Nicole Polizzi, known as “Snooki” on MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” revealed she has been diagnosed with cervical cancer but has a positive medical outlook.
During a TikTok video Friday, she shared a health update after getting the results from her recent cone biopsy.
“It came back stage 1 cervical cancer called adenocarcinoma,” she said. “Obviously not the news that I was hoping for, but also not the worst news just because they caught it so early. Thank freaking God!”
Polizzi, 38, went on to stress the importance of women getting routine pap smears.
“I’m 38 years old and I’ve been struggling with abnormal pap smears for three or four years now, and now look at me,” she said. “Instead of just like putting it off because I didn’t want to go, because I was hurt and scared, I just went and did it. And it was there, cancer is in there. And it’s only stage 1 and it’s curable.”
Last month, she revealed doctors found “cancerous cells” on her cervix and was getting more tests done.
In Friday’s 7-minute long video, Polizzi said she would next be getting a PET scan to determine if the cancer had spread anywhere else in her body.
“After that, I’m gonna probably get the hysterectomy,” she said, explaining that her doctor said the alternative was chemotherapy and radiation. “Obviously, I think the smart choice here is the hysterectomy. I’ll still keep my ovaries, which is a good sign. But hysterectomy, gotta get the cervix and uterus out… It all depends on the PET scan.”
The mother of three previously urged her followers to get their screenings and not to skip out on tests.
