Nifty 50 is trading lower. The sharp fall in the US markets on Friday and in the Asians today after Trump imposing an additional 100 per cent tariffs on Chinese imports is weighing on the market sentiment.
However, the price action in the early trades indicates lack of strong sellers to drag Nifty sharply lower. The index is currently trading at 25,189, down 0.38 per cent. The advances/declines ratio is at 12:38. This has to turn in favour of the advances in order to take the Nifty strongly higher.
Nifty 50 Outlook
Nifty has support around 25,150 which is holding for now. Resistance is around 25,250. Nifty has to surpass this hurdle in order to ease the downside pressure and become bullish. Only then it can rise back to 25,350 and higher levels again.
The index will come under more pressure if it declines below 25,150. If that happens, there are good chances to see a fall to 25,050-25,000 in the coming sessions.
From a big picture, 25,000 is a strong support. We expect the Nifty to sustain above it and rise back going forward.
Nifty 50 Futures
The Nifty 50 October Futures (25,265) is down 0.57 per cent. Immediate resistance is at 25,280. Above that, 25,320-25,350 is the next strong intraday resistance zone. As long as the contract stays below 25,350, the bias will remain negative. The Nifty 50 October Futures contract can fall to 25,120-25,100 in the coming sessions.
The price action thereafter will need a close watch. A strong bounce from around 25,100 can take the Nifty 50 October Futures contract up to 25,300 again.
Trade Strategy
Traders can go short now at 25,265. Add more shorts on a rise at 25,310. Keep the stop-loss at 25,360. Trail the stop-loss down to 25,230 as soon as the contract falls to 25,210. Move the stop-loss further down to 25,205 and 25,180 when the contract touches 25,185 and 25,145 respectively. Exit the shorts at 25,130.
