
In addition to the several Pulse Polio Centres set up to administer the vaccine to all eligible kids, mobile centres are covering floating population of children in bus stations and railway station as part of the goal to achieve a polio-free society, in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Around 70.4% immunisation coverage was achieved among children under five years of age during the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme conducted in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday.
Of the 2,09,652 children in the zero to five age group, 1,47,504 were administered polio drops on the first day (by 8 pm). The programme will continue on Monday (December 22), with teams of ANMs and ASHA workers undertaking door-to-door visits and thorough checks to ensure that children who missed the first round are covered.
In addition to stalls at hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs), immunisation booths were set up at public places across the district. Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao, AP TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao, MLAs, corporators and other public representatives participated and promoted public awareness.
Meanwhile, the Anakapalli district administration reported a higher coverage, achieving 94.59% immunisation on the first day. District Collector Ms. Vijaya Krishnan stated that of the 1,97,810 children in the zero to five age group, 1,91,319 were administered polio drops.
Similarly, out of 1,22,959 children of target groups, as many as 1,12,839 children were administered the polio drops in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Sunday.
