I bought a few bonds and I’m not sure if I understand what the quantity really is.
For sake of example, I’ll assume that I purchase bonds that are currently available at exactly $100. Whatever that value represents.
When I enter the amount, I enter it in dollars and the system forces me to enter a multiple of 100. So at the price above, I need to buy at least $100 of bonds. However, if I enter $20,000, it tells me that I have 20,000 bonds.
So… it seems that the $100 price is the price to buy 100 bonds, not 1.
Yet, when I look at the recap, I see the $100, but 20,000 quantity and $20,000 cost (again, assuming it exactly $100 at the moment):
So it seems to me that something has to give… how many bonds do I have? If I look at that screen, it says 20,000. Is that the real quantity? In which case, the price should be $1, not $100…
