MT. VERNON, Ill. (WSIL) — A lucky Illinois Lottery player is nearly $1.5 million richer after purchasing a winning FastPlay ticket in Southern Illinois.
According to the Illinois Lottery, a player won a $1,498,172 jackpot prize playing the $30 FastPlay Cash Castle game. The winning ticket was sold at Hucks, located at 540 Fairfield Road in Mount Vernon.
As a bonus for selling the life-changing ticket, the Hucks location will receive $14,982 — equal to 1% of the total prize amount.
Cash Castle is a $30 progressive FastPlay game that begins with a $100,000 jackpot — the highest starting jackpot of any Illinois Lottery FastPlay game. The jackpot grows with each ticket sold statewide until it is won.
Lottery officials said the winner has one year from the draw date to claim the prize. Players are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket and store it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their winnings.
The identity of the winner has not yet been announced.
