Take-Two Interactive shares jump on strong booking outlook ahead of GTA VI

Investing.com — Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ:TTWO) reported a wider-than-expected quarterly loss but beat revenue estimates and raised its full-year outlook, betting on stronger bookings. Shares jumped 4% in extended trading.

Take-Two’s titles include the blockbuster “Grand Theft Auto” franchise. The company has twice-delayed Grand Theft Auto VI with planned launch in November.

The videogame publisher posted a fiscal third-quarter net loss of $0.50 per share, compared with analysts’ expectations for a profit of $0.83. Revenue rose to $1.70 billion from $1.36 billion a year earlier and topped the $1.59 billion consensus. Net bookings for the quarter grew 28% to $1.76 billion.

Shares across the video game sector fell after Google launched the artificial intelligence-enhanced model, which can help users create digital worlds with just simple text or uploaded image prompts. TTWO shares fell nearly 8% in late January as investors weighed whether AI tools could eventually challenge traditional game development.

Take-Two lifted its fiscal 2026 outlook. It now expects earnings of between a loss of $2.00 and $1.84 per share, compared with analysts’ estimates for a loss of $1.93. The company forecast fiscal 2026 revenue of $6.0 billion to $6.55 billion, versus a consensus of $6.48 billion.

The company also raised its fiscal 2026 net bookings outlook to a range of $6.65 billion to $6.7 billion.

“Highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19th, we continue to project record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2027, which we believe will establish a new financial baseline for our business, set us on a path to enhanced profitability, and provide further balance sheet strength and flexibilit,” Chief Executive Strauss Zelnick said in a statement.

During the quarter, the biggest contributors to net bookings included NBA 2K26, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, alongside titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2, WWE 2K25 and several mobile games including Toon Blast and Match Factory.
