Here’s a challenge. Using the five clues below, identify the company that is being talked about here.
My journey began 70 years ago as a collaboration between an Indian company, an American pioneer and the then-largest British company in my industry.
Within 10 years, the Indian promoter bought out the American and British partners, but continued using the overseas partners’ names in my brands. Both partners were subsequently acquired by a French company, which still retains ownership in them.
I’m truly an Indian MNC, as more than half of my revenue comes from overseas, with manufacturing operations in more than five countries and global leadership in several products.
My current chairman, who later went on to become my group chairman, was instrumental in driving 10-fold growth across products and geographies. He also served as a board member of a well-known Nifty company for more than 25 consecutive years.
My shareholders earned five-fold returns in the two years after Covid, but have seen no returns since, due to business challenges in a few countries where I operate.
