Wichita restaurants prepare for rare Saturday Valentine’s Day

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – With Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday this year, FioRito at Douglas and Hillside expects record numbers compared to previous years.
Co-owner Jordan Rickard says they ran out of reservation times weeks ago.
“Saturdays are always busy this time of year, Valentine’s Day is always busy, so this is probably gonna be one of the busiest Valentine’s Day we’ve had at the restaurant,” said Rickard.
It’s not a one person job. It will be all hands on deck for FioRito.
“I want to make sure that we have all the supplies that we need and that people are happy overall, I wanna make sure everyone’s in a good mood, and just everyone’s ready to go for a busy weekend, cause it’s going to be a marathon, not a sprint,” says Aubrey Pennington, a manager at FioRito.
It’s not just Valentine’s Day either. The restaurant expects to be booked out the whole weekend.
“Tonight, tomorrow morning, tomorrow night, and Sunday brunch, we’re probably going to hit about 400 people and for a dining room of 40 heads, it’s gonna be a pretty wild one,” said Pennington.
