WWE Production Veteran From Attitude Era Dies After Cancer Battle

A WWE production staff member who got his start in the “Attitude Era” is dead at 60. PWInsider reports that Jim Shank died this past Friday after a battle with colorectal cancer. Shank celebrated 26 years with WWE in late 2025.

The late and beloved production team member first got his start in Nov. 1999. This was during the height of the “Attitude Era,” as WWE was about to enter one of its strongest years from a creative standpoint. Before his death, Shank held the role of technical operations manager for the professional wrestling company.

Jim Shank’s Legacy

In the aforementioned report, it was noted that several backstage workers in WWE had a great relationship with Shank, who had been working with WWE’s remote-controlled and robotic cameras. The general consensus during TV tapings is that Shank was a positive person who everyone got along with.

In 2025, a GoFundMe page was set up for Shank, who had been battling colorectal cancer for three years when the campaign was set up. The goal of $200,000 was surpassed by over $20,000. Many throughout the wrestling industry donated to the page in an effort to help Shank get access to treatment that had not been fully approved by insurance.

Shank turned 60 mere weeks prior to his passing.
