RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Two people are dead after a mass shooting in Shockoe Bottom early Saturday.
The Richmond Police Department says the shooting happened on North 18th Street around 2:45 a.m.
Police say an officer who initially responded found a woman shot dead on the scene.
“Additional officers arrived and found an adult male down and unresponsive,” police said. “He had also suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police say four other adults were found with gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital. Three other people with injuries took themselves to the hospital.
“In total, nine adults were shot in this incident: a male and a female with fatal injuries, a male with injuries that are considered life threatening, and three males and three females with injuries that are not considered life threatening,” police said.
Police have not said what led to the shooting.
