Apple (AAPL, Financials) is expected to keep its privacy-first approach as it prepares a major overhaul of Siri, even as rivals continue pushing more aggressive artificial intelligence features, according to a Bloomberg report.
The updated Siri platform could launch in beta form alongside iOS 27 as Apple continues refining the technology. The report said the company remains focused on limiting how user data is collected and stored, a strategy that has long separated Apple from competitors such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and Meta Platforms.
Unlike many AI chatbot platforms that rely heavily on user conversations for training and personalization, Apple is reportedly planning stricter controls around data retention. The report noted that Siri could include automatic chat deletion options similar to features already available in Apple’s Messages app.
Apple is also said to be using some Google technology to support its AI efforts. According to the report, Apple Foundational Models now draw partly from Gemini capabilities and could also use portions of Google’s cloud infrastructure.
For investors, the update highlights Apple’s effort to balance AI development with its longstanding focus on user privacy as competition in artificial intelligence continues to intensify.
