Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) unveiled three new Gemini models, led by Gemini 3.6 Flash, which Google said outperforms its predecessor on tasks including coding and financial analysis at a lower cost to users. The company also released Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, tuned to find and patch software vulnerabilities, and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, aimed at lightweight AI agents and autonomous assistants. Alphabet shares were down 0.91% intraday.
OpenAI and Anthropic have both introduced systems recently that detect software vulnerabilities and assist security researchers, and Google is now competing directly in that segment. The Flash family as a whole is positioned on cost, offering developers capable models without the expense of larger systems.
Gemini 3.5 Pro, the flagship, remains in testing after Google previously indicated a June launch, and the company now says it will ship when ready. The models arrive shortly before Alphabet reports quarterly results, with Chinese developers also gaining ground. Moonshot AI recently capped new Kimi K3 subscriptions after demand strained its compute, and Alibaba has said its coming Qwen 3.8 Max should rank among the top-performing systems.
