Anthropic is nearing a $30 billion fundraising round that would value the artificial intelligence company at $900 billion, surpassing the valuation of rival OpenAI, according to a Financial Times report.
Four firms — Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, and Altimeter Capital — will jointly lead the round at a pre-money valuation of $900 billion, the FT said, citing two people familiar with the deal.
Each of the four lead investors is expected to contribute at least $2 billion, the people said. The deal is expected to close as soon as this month.
The new valuation would exceed that of OpenAI, which was most recently valued at $852 billion.
The fundraise comes just three months after Anthropic closed a $30 billion round in February at a $350 billion valuation, nearly tripling the company’s worth in that span.
