Anthropic, Google Deal Highlights Growing AI Compute Demand

Anthropic (ANTHRO) is going all in on compute, reportedly lining up a massive $200 billion commitment to Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) over the next 5 years for cloud services and AI chips.

That kind of number tells you how intense the demand has become. The deal could make Anthropic one of Google Cloud’s biggest customers, potentially accounting for more than 40% of its revenue backlog. It is essentially about locking in access to Google’s TPU capacity well ahead of time, with deployment expected to start scaling around 2027 as usage ramps.

What is driving this is pretty straightforward. Anthropic’s Claude models are seeing growing enterprise adoption, and the company needs guaranteed compute to keep up. At the same time, it is not relying on just one provider. Anthropic continues to work with Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) as well, spreading out its infrastructure bets while still securing large chunks of capacity where it can.
