Apple’s Trillion Moment Comes at a Turning Point

Apple (AAPL, Financials), the consumer technology company, briefly crossed a $5 trillion market value as investors continued to reward its hardware strength despite concerns about its artificial intelligence strategy.

The milestone came less than a year after Apple passed $4 trillion in October 2025. Its shares have gained about 24% this year and nearly 60% over the past 12 months, supported by resilient iPhone demand.

Apple has moved more slowly than several technology rivals in generative AI. The company delayed major Apple Intelligence features, including an upgraded Siri, and later partnered with Google to use Gemini models for the voice assistant.

The redesigned Siri is expected to enter beta later this year alongside the iPhone 18 lineup and Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

The valuation milestone also comes before a major leadership transition. CEO Tim Cook is expected to hand control to John Ternus on Sept. 1.

Apple is also facing higher memory and storage costs, which have contributed to price increases for some Mac and iPad products.

Investors will now watch whether new devices, AI features and the leadership transition can support Apple’s valuation.
