Czechoslovak Group is setting up an advanced propulsion manufacturing facility in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, through its US subsidiary CSE USA and new unit Firecrest Aerospace. The project starts with up to $15 million of investment and is expected to create about 125 skilled jobs over three years. Initial assembly should begin within months, with full-scale manufacturing targeted for 2027. The goal is simple. Build small turbojet and turbofan engines closer to US and allied customers, because drones are no longer a side quest in defense.

WHAT HAPPENED

CSG announced plans to establish a U.S. manufacturing base for advanced propulsion systems in Central Wisconsin.

The project will be developed and operated by Firecrest Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of CSE USA, which is part of CSG. The facility will focus on small turbojet and turbofan engines used in unmanned aircraft systems, precision defense systems, target drones, loitering munitions and other next-generation aerospace applications.

The company expects to invest up to $15 million initially, with further expansion planned. The project is expected to create around 125 skilled jobs over the next three years.

Operations will be based in Stevens Point, with dedicated facilities at Stevens Point Municipal Airport for engine integration, ground testing and flight validation. Initial assembly is expected to begin within months, followed by initial deliveries. Full-scale manufacturing is planned for 2027.

The project will roll out in phases. The first stage will focus on assembly, integration and testing for US customers. Later stages are expected to expand into full domestic manufacturing, engineering and product development.

As the operation matures, annual output is expected to rise from hundreds of propulsion systems to several thousand engines.

WHY IT MATTERS

This is not just another factory announcement with a ribbon-cutting and hard hats. It is a bet on where the defense industry is going.

Unmanned systems have moved from niche capability to battlefield necessity. The war in Ukraine has made that impossible to ignore. Drones are now used for surveillance, targeting, strikes, decoys, logistics and attrition warfare. The lesson for militaries is clear. If drones matter, the components inside them matter too. Propulsion is one of those components.

A drone’s engine affects range, speed, payload, reliability and cost. It determines whether a system can loiter longer, fly farther, survive harsher conditions or be produced cheaply enough to use at scale. That makes small jet engines more than an engineering detail. They are part of the new defense supply chain. CSG is trying to position itself directly inside that chain.
