Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) is looking to raise roughly $4 billion through an investment-grade bond sale, mainly to refinance debt coming due in 2026. The offering is expected to be split into four tranches with maturities ranging from three to 10 years, although the final amount will depend on investor demand.
The timing is significant because Dell is benefiting from a major increase in spending on AI infrastructure. Bloomberg reported that Dell has lifted its fiscal-year sales forecast by $25 billion, while Reuters said strong demand for AI servers has pushed the company to raise its revenue and profit outlook for the second time this year.

Bull Case
The biggest argument in Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL)’s favor is that the company is refinancing from a position of strength rather than taking on debt to cover a cash-flow shortfall. Most of the proceeds are expected to go toward repaying Dell’s 4.9% notes due in October 2026. That means the deal is primarily about managing an existing obligation rather than significantly increasing the company’s overall leverage. With demand for AI servers remaining strong, Dell has more room to handle its debt while continuing to invest in the growth of the business.
The strength of Dell’s underlying business is what makes the refinancing more encouraging. Reuters reported that Dell raised its annual revenue and profit forecasts again as hyperscalers and other technology companies continue to pour money into AI infrastructure. Bloomberg also reported that Dell’s stock has climbed roughly 340% this year, while the company recently raised its sales forecast by another $25 billion.
If that momentum continues, the new debt could actually give Dell greater flexibility by spreading out its maturities and reducing the pressure of near-term repayments. Stronger earnings and cash flow from the AI-server business could also gradually improve the company’s leverage. In that scenario, the bond sale would look less like a defensive move and more like a way for Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) to manage its balance sheet while taking advantage of strong business conditions.
Bear Case
The biggest concern is the cost of borrowing. Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) is looking to refinance at a time when corporate financing remains relatively expensive. The proposed 10-year tranche is reportedly being marketed at a spread of as much as 140 basis points over Treasuries. With long-term Treasury yields still elevated, Dell could end up locking in higher financing costs for years, which would add to its fixed interest burden.
