Accounting practice Forvis Mazars has appointed Garrett Gluth as the managing director for its healthcare practice.
Gluth will oversee tax and compliance work for non-profit healthcare clients across the US.
Forvis Mazars Healthcare Practice national sector leader Brad Brotherton said: โWe are thrilled to add Garrett to our team. His first hand experience shaping Section 501(r) and federal tax policy brings immediate value and distinct advantage to our clients as they navigate increasing regulatory scrutiny and complexity.
โGarrett brings a rare combination of technical depth and practical insight that will help healthcare organisations strengthen compliance, mitigate risk and clearly demonstrate their community impact.
โHis addition further strengthens our ability to deliver integrated, forward-looking solutions to healthcare organisations nationwide.โ
Gluth is both a certified public accountant and an attorney. He joins the company after a 16โyear career at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where he held several senior executive roles.
His responsibilities at the IRS included helping draft regulations and implement tax rules for non-profit organisations. He was involved in the redesign of Form 990 reporting for hospitals and led extensive tax compliance initiatives.
Gluth helped author Section 501(r), which sets out statutory obligations for taxโexempt hospital organisations.
During his IRS tenure, he also directed the rollout of complex tax provisions related to opportunity zones, digital assets, clean energy, excise taxes, as well as a range of credits and deductions.
Gluth said: โForvis Mazars is widely known and respected for the level of service it provides to its healthcare and hospital clients.
โI am proud to join my new colleagues in upholding that high standard and I am excited about what the future holds for the team and for our clients.โ
Forvis Mazars recently created China and Japan desks to support US multinational enterprises with interests in those markets.
