June 10 (Reuters) – A California state โcourt judge denied motions โby Meta Platforms and Google’s YouTube โseeking a new trial after a jury found them liable for designing social โmedia platforms โ that are harmful to young people, sources โ familiar with the ruling confirmed on Wednesday.
Los โAngeles Superior Court โJudge โCarolyn Kuhl โruled on the motions on Tuesday, according to court documents. The order stating her ruling and explaining โher reasoning was โnot immediately available.
The โcompanies โhad sought a โnew trial after โa jury โfound them negligent and imposed a $6 million in โdamages.
