The integration will allow shoppers using Gemini or Google Search to select Klarna at checkout without leaving the experience to complete payment.

According to the announcement, Google Pay users will see a Klarna button at checkout.

Klarna said the offering will include the option to pay in four interest-free instalments, as well as longer-term financing for larger purchases. The company added that each option is โ€œunderwritten with an affordability check.โ€

Klarna chief commercial officer David Sykes said: โ€œAs shopping moves into conversational and AI-driven environments, flexible payments become essential infrastructure for how people buy.

โ€œOur partnership with Google brings Klarna directly into these moments of decision, giving consumers more control over how they pay.โ€

Google Merchant Shopping VP/GM Ashish Gupta said: โ€œAs agentic commerce scales, how people pay needs to keep pace with how they shop.

โ€œBy making Klarnaโ€™s flexible payment options available at checkout in the Gemini app and Search via Google Pay, weโ€™re giving shoppers more flexibility, so they can make more confident, considered purchases with less friction.โ€

Klarna said the integration is built into Google Pay for checkout on Google surfaces that use the Universal Commerce Protocol. It follows earlier integrations involving Google Pay, Google Store, Google Play and Google Cloud.

The announcement comes as payments firms position their products for AI-enabled shopping journeys.

In March, Klarna make its flexible payment options available in AI agent-driven shopping experiences through Stripeโ€™s Shared Payment Tokens (SPTs). The feature is available for US merchants already live with Klarna through Stripe.

According to its website, Klarna has more than 118 million customers across 26 countries. It processes 3.4 million transactions every day.
