Meta (NASDAQ:META) is going all in on improving its AI, but the way it is doing it is starting to feel a bit uneasy, especially for people inside the company.
From what is being reported, Meta is tracking how employees actually use their computers, things like typing, clicking, and moving through apps like Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), LinkedIn, GitHub, and Slack. The thinking behind it is pretty logical. If you want AI to handle real world tasks, it needs to learn from how people actually do those tasks, not just from clean, structured data. So in that sense, this is about teaching AI how work really happens.
But once you move past that, it gets a bit more complicated. Some employees are not comfortable with how much is being captured, especially when it comes to sensitive information that might show up on screen. Meta has said there are safeguards and that the data is only being used to train models, but the concern is less about intent and more about how far this could go.
