This story in the journal then, Shopify and meta partnering, right? Going to allow Meta’s personal AI agent Muse to complete purchases on behalf of users.

00:12 Speaker B

I picked up muse. I’m using it right now. Uh I’ve had 8 billion. I’ve tried a test see if they can get me movers because I’m moving.

00:17 Speaker A

How did that go?

00:18 Speaker B

Went well. I got uh 8 million phone calls from uh movers coming in. So uh I’m going to have to tell them that I already got a mover. It’s all just testing. I’m sure they’ll love to hear that.

00:26 Speaker B

Uh but I did go ahead and try there’s a video game that I want to buy. So I went ahead and said Muse, can you buy this video game for me from Nintendo.com.

00:32 Speaker B

And you know, look, it went through the whole process of buying. It was it was easy. I logged into my Nintendo account. No big deal.

00:38 Speaker B

It takes infinitely longer to do it through Muse or I’m sure any other AI agent than it is to just go to Nintendo.com on my own and purchase it right there.

00:52 Speaker B

And I I just it’s in my mind, it’s like, okay, we’re we’re being told that this is kind of the the future where things go. And hey, it’ll speed up its at points. I’m sure there’ll be different uh ways where we’ll be able to access this.

01:03 Speaker B

But it just doesn’t really kind of make sense in in that respect to me, personally.

01:08 Speaker B

This deal with Shopify, good great and grand for Shopify. Amazon said, absolutely not and they cut off Muse. And they they’ve cut off other AI agents before, but it’s it’s more of along the lines of, okay, so if Shopify is working with uh uh meta and they have the Muse app,

01:21 Speaker B

what does that mean for uh Shopify’s website? Uh Amazon basically saying, we get a lot of people coming on here and looking for a product and then buying another.

01:31 Speaker B

I literally have another mover calling me right now on my watch. Um, if if if people are on our site, they like to buy, you know, they’ll they’ll see uh uh uh uh, you know, last minute buy that they’ll they’ll go ahead and impulse purchase or something or they’ll see something and say, oh, you know what? I really need that.

01:50 Speaker B

If you’re using Muse, you’re not going to get that at Amazon. So it makes sense why they would cut that off.

01:53 Speaker B

For where it brings in revenue, uh ads are certainly uh something that Meta is very familiar with. I I I wonder though if inserting ads in something like this, you know, we see

02:04 Speaker B

we’ve see, you know, obviously OpenAI’s experimenting with it or or has it, uh Google as well. So it makes sense that that meta would jump on as well.

02:11 Speaker B

Uh that that’s probably where it’ll go, but it makes me wonder, you know, will users be be okay with that? What what does that look like? Will businesses who who want to do business uh be okay with that as well?

02:21 Speaker B

Because if you’re, you know, going through Shopify, well, what if it shows me an ad for something that’s off Shopify or, you know, not not available through Shopify.

02:29 Speaker B

Subscriptions make sense. They have their Meta one service where you can subscribe and get access to more uh uh AI usage as well as, you know, little things for uh Facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp.

02:42 Speaker B

Uh I I think that, you know, going forward for investors what this is is it’s just proof that meta strategy appears to be starting to pay off.
