Nifty 50 continues to trade under pressure. The index has come down well in the early trades. It is currently trading at 25,526 down 0.45 per cent. The advances/declines ratio is at 11:39. This is negative. It suggests that more fall could be on the cards during the day.
Nifty 50 Outlook
Intraday support is around 25,500 which can be tested in some time now. We expect the Nifty to hold above this support and bounce back. Such a reversal can take the index up to 26,600 and 25,650. This will give some relief for the index.
On the other hand, a break below 25,500 can increase the selling pressure. In that case, a fall to 25,400-25,350 is possible.
The price action around 25,500 will need a close watch during the day.
Nifty 50 Futures
The Nifty 50 February Futures (25,597) are down 0.5 per cent. The contract has broken the key support level of 25,630. That can keep it under pressure. There is a danger of seeing 25,500-25,470 on the downside during the day.
The region between 25,650-25,700 will now act as a strong resistance zone. The Nifty 50 February Futures contract has to rise past 25,700 in order to ease the downside pressure. But that looks less likely.
Trade Strategy
Traders can go short now at 25,597. Add more shorts on a rise at 25,630. Keep the stop-loss at 25,660 initially. Trail the stop-loss down to 25,570 as soon as the contract falls to 25,555. Revise the stop-loss down to 25,545 when the contract touches 25,530. Exit the shorts at 25,520.
