Raymond James Sees 1B Revenue Opportunity by 2030

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a leading global semiconductor company headquartered in Santa Clara, California, designing high-performance CPUs, GPUs, and adaptive computing solutions for data centers, PCs, gaming, and embedded systems. Under CEO Lisa Su, AMD has emerged as a formidable challenger to Nvidia Corporation (NVDA) and Intel (INTC) in the booming AI accelerator market, driven by its Instinct GPU lineup, EPYC server processors, and Ryzen consumer chips.

The company’s rack-scale Helios platform and upcoming MI500 accelerators position it to capture a larger share of the projected $2 trillion AI computing market by 2030, as hyperscalers increasingly diversify their AI infrastructure suppliers beyond Nvidia.

AMD Stock Surges in 2026

AMD stock has been one of 2026’s biggest winners, trading around $485 and close to its all-time high of $584.73 set in June, after surging more than 5x from its 52-week low of $149.22. Shares have remained volatile in recent sessions, slipping 3.5% amid broader semiconductor weakness tied to rising Treasury yields and profit-taking ahead of Nvidia’s closely watched Aug. 26 earnings report.

By comparison, the S&P 500 Information Technology Sector Index ($SRIT) has climbed 23% year-to-date (YTD) in 2026, itself a robust showing amid the broader AI rally. AMD stock has dramatically outpaced its own sector, underscoring exceptional investor enthusiasm for its expanding AI accelerator lineup and improving competitive positioning against Nvidia and Intel.
