U.S. chess champion Hikaru Nakamura is soaring above the S&P 500 thanks mainly to the presence of Intel Corporation in his TipRanks investment portfolio.
Overall, Hikaru’s portfolio has a total return of 8.3% and is 4.7% above the S&P 500. It has an average annualized return of 1.6%, with 9 out of 18 transactions making a profit.
The biggest contributor is Hikaru’s investment in Intel (INTC). He bought 250 shares on September 26, 2025 at a purchase price of $35.92. Its current share price is $62.38 and Hikaru’s holding has a current value of $15,595. It represents 13.45% of his overall holdings.
When he bought the shares Hikaru said that INTC was an “America First stock. 10% owned by the government and a critical part of the American semiconductor industry. Questions around Foundry, but they should figure it out. Intel also is trading at a discount to peers.”
It hasn’t let him down and he is now sitting on a gain of 73.66%. That’s well above his second biggest gainer of Alphabet Class C (GOOG) with 25.29%.
The INTC stock is up 69% in the year-to-date helped by surging demand for AI. An example of this came last week when Intel said it was expanding its long-term work with Google to support the next wave of AI and cloud systems.
Google will use Intel’s Xeon 6 processors in AI-focused data centers, signaling growing confidence that Intel’s CPUs can play a bigger role alongside GPUs in handling everyday AI workloads.
